The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum is an automotive museum on the grounds of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana, which houses the Auto Racing Hall of Fame. It is intrinsically linked to the Indianapolis 500, but it also includes exhibits reflecting other forms of motorsports, passenger cars and general automotive history. In 2006, it celebrated its 50th anniversary. Many Indy 500-winning cars are on display.

The museum is owned and operated by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Foundation, Inc, a registered charitable organization.

Famous quotes containing the words motor, speedway, hall, fame and/or museum:

    We disparage reason.
But all the time it’s what we’re most concerned with.
There’s will as motor and there’s will as brakes.
Reason is, I suppose, the steering gear.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

The improved American highway system ... isolated the American-in-transit. On his speedway ... he had no contact with the towns which he by-passed. If he stopped for food or gas, he was served no local fare or local fuel, but had one of Howard Johnson’s nationally branded ice cream flavors, and so many gallons of Exxon. This vast ocean of superhighways was nearly as free of culture as the sea traversed by the Mayflower Pilgrims.
    Daniel J. Boorstin (b. 1914)

Sweet death, small son, our instrument
    Of immortality,
    Your cries and hungers document
    Our bodily decay.
    —Donald Hall (b. 1928)

    Upon Saint Crispin’s day
    Fought was this noble fray,
    Which fame did not delay
    To England to carry.
    On when shall Englishmen
With such acts fill a pen,
    Or England breed again
    Such a King Harry?
    Michael Drayton (1563–1631)

A fine-looking mill, but no machinery inside.
Hawaiian saying no. 1702, ‘lelo No’Eau, collected, translated, and annotated by Mary Kawena Pukui, Bishop Museum Press, Hawaii (1983)
