The ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC) (Hindi: इसरो उपग्रह केंद्र) is the lead centre of ISRO for design, development, fabrication and testing of all Indian made satellites. Recently ISAC celebrated its 40 years of fruitful existence(Ruby Year Celebration) on May 11, 2012. Situated in Vimanapura Post of Bangalore, Karnataka, the centre has produced more than 50 satellites including the INSAT series, the IRS series, as well as the GSAT communication satellites. Laboratory of Electro-optic Systems(LEOS) and ISRO Satellite Integration and Testing Establishment(ISITE) works under the umbrella of ISAC. S.K.Shivkumar was recently appointed as the director of ISRO Satellite Centre(ISAC). Like other ISRO centres, ISAC is also organised under Matrix Management Structure. The centre is divided into many Functional Areas like(Control and Mission Area, Electronic Systems Area, Mechanical Systems Area, Reliability and Components Area etc.). Each Area is further divided into Groups. For instance, Control and Mission area has many groups like Control Systems Group, Flight Dynamics Group etc. Again Groups get divided into Divisions. For example, Control Systems Group has many divisions like Control Electronics Division, Control Dynamics and Analysis Division etc. Apart from this Project Planning and Evaluation Group, Computer and Information Group, Space Astronomy and Instrumentation Division are independent. Apart from this Facilities (like Thermovac facility etc.) and Projects (like INSAT,SATNAV, etc.) also exist.

—Howard Estabrook (18841978)
“The secret ones around a stone
Their lips withdrawn in meet surprise
Lie still, being naught but bone
With naught but space within their eyes....”

“I did my research and decided I just had to live it.”
—Karina OMalley, U.S. sociologist and educator. As quoted in the Chronicle of Higher Education, p. A5 (September 16, 1992)
“It is because the body is a machine that education is possible. Education is the formation of habits, a superinducing of an artificial organisation upon the natural organisation of the body.”
—Thomas Henry Huxley (18251895)
“Books are the best things, well used; abused, among the worst. What is the right use? What is the one end, which all means go to effect? They are for nothing but to inspire. I had better never see a book, than to be warped by its attraction clean out of my own orbit, and made a satellite instead of a system.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“In the centre of his cage
The pacing animal
Surveys the jungle cove
And slicks his slithering wiles
To turn the venereal awl
In the livid wound of love.”
—Allen Tate (18991979)
