Students Activities

The majority of the student activities at IISER-P are conducted by the various clubs listed below.

  • Aaroha
  • Kalaa
  • Science Club

Mimamsa is an inter-college science challenge conducted by the Science Club of IISER-P. The aim of the organizers is to make it the most conceptually challenging competition at this level in the country. It is a two stage affair. The first stage is a written exam with 60 subjective questions from all disciplines of science. The top four colleges selected through this round move into the finals.

All the clubs were formed in the academic year 2008-09, except for the science club (which is a year older). In 2009, all the clubs got together to organize Karavaan 2009, the Inter-IISER Cultural Fest. In 2011, the students of the 2009 and 2010 batch organized Scifest '11.

There is also a very active SPIC MACAY sub-chapter, which organizes events jointly with National Chemical Laboratory, and the SPIC MACAY Pune Chapter.

Famous quotes containing the words students and/or activities:

President Lowell of Harvard appealed to students ‘to prepare themselves for such services as the Governor may call upon them to render.’ Dean Greenough organized an ‘emergency committee,’ and Coach Fisher was reported by the press as having declared, ‘To hell with football if men are needed.’
—For the State of Massachusetts, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

Both gossip and joking are intrinsically valuable activities. Both are essentially social activities that strengthen interpersonal bonds—we do not tell jokes and gossip to ourselves. As popular activities that evade social restrictions, they often refer to topics that are inaccessible to serious public discussion. Gossip and joking often appear together: when we gossip we usually tell jokes and when we are joking we often gossip as well.
Aaron Ben-Ze’Ev, Israeli philosopher. “The Vindication of Gossip,” Good Gossip, University Press of Kansas (1994)
