Criticism of Stephen Harper

In 2010 Canada's bid for a seat on the UN Security Council failed. Prime Minister Stephen Harper blamed "a rising tide of antisemitism". Diana Ralph for Independent Jewish Voices said: "The fact the Holocaust was a terrible crime and terrible tragedy . . . it has absolutely nothing to do with justifying similar — not similar in the sense of the same scope — violations of human rights and of the people of Palestine." Famous quotes containing the words criticism of, criticism, stephen and/or harper:

Cubism had been an analysis of the object and an attempt to put it before us in its totality; both as analysis and as synthesis, it was a criticism of appearance. Surrealism transmuted the object, and suddenly a canvas became an apparition: a new figuration, a real transfiguration.
    Octavio Paz (b. 1914)

    Charles Baudelaire (1821–1867)

Peter Prince, British screenwriter, and Stephen Frears. Harry (Bill Hunter)

Before any woman is a wife, a sister or a mother she is a human being. We ask nothing as women but everything as human beings.
Ida C. Hultin, U.S. minister and suffragist. As quoted in History of Woman Suffrage, vol. 4, ch. 17, by Susan B. Anthony and Ida Husted Harper (1902)
