Incendiary Ammunition - Modern

Modern

Incendiary projectiles, in particular those intended for armor penetration, are more effective if they explode after penetrating a surface layer, such that they explode inside the target. Additionally, targets with onboard electronics or computers can be damaged by metal fragments when they explode on the surface. Ignition is often delayed by varying means until after impact.

Some explosive projectiles, such as high-explosive incendiary rounds, contain an incendiary charge intended to ignite explosives within the shell.

Famous quotes containing the word modern:

Amplification is the vice of modern oratory. It is an insult to an assembly of reasonable men, disgusting and revolting instead of persuading. Speeches measured by the hour, die by the hour.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)

Anne: He hit me, Jack. My own brother, he hit me.
Jack: Your brother’s an old-fashioned man, he believes in a sister’s honor. Me, I’m Modern Man, the 20th-century type. I run.
    Robert Rossen (1908–1966)

Primitivism has become the vulgar cliché of much modern art and speculation.
    Marshall McLuhan (1911–1980)
