Imposing

Imposing was a notable Australian thoroughbred racehorse.

He was a chestnut son of Todman from the Arctic Explorer mare Hialeah.

Some of his major race victories included the 1979 AJC Epsom Handicap, AJC George Main Stakes and the STC Hill Stakes.

Retired to stud following his successful racing career, his progeny included the champion Super Impose, Imposera (1988 MRC Caulfield Cup) and Imprimatur (1986 AJC Spring Champion Stakes).

Famous quotes containing the word imposing:

We may not pay Satan reverence, for that would be indiscreet, but we can at least respect his talents. A person who has for untold centuries maintained the imposing position of spiritual head of four-fifths of the human race, and political head of the whole of it, must be granted the possession of executive abilities of the loftiest order.
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)

No convention gets to be a convention at all except by grace of a lot of clever and powerful people first inventing it, and then imposing it on others. You can be pretty sure, if you are strictly conventional, that you are following genius—a long way off. And unless you are a genius yourself, that is a good thing to do.
    Katharine Fullerton Gerould (1879–1944)

Color is my day-long obsession, joy and torment. To such an extent indeed that one day, finding myself at the deathbed of a woman who had been and still was very dear to me, I caught myself in the act of focusing on her temples and automatically analyzing the succession of appropriately graded colors which death was imposing on her motionless face.
    Claude Monet (1840–1926)
