Jamaican dancehall singer Althea Hewitt released a reggae cover of "If I Were a Boy" to iTunes Stores on December 19, 2008. Nicole Sullivan and Tisha Campbell-Martin covered "If I Were a Boy" during the episode "The Shape of Things to Come" on the sitcom Rita Rocks which aired on October 13, 2009. During the finale of the tenth season of American Idol on May 25, 2011, the lady contestants joined together onstage to perform "If I Were a Boy" along with a medley of Knowles' other singles. Caterina Torres covered the song during the second series of The Voice (Australia) on May 12, 2013. Torres' version peaked at number 28 on the Australian Singles Chart on May 26, 2013.
