Scope and Standards
Although the PKIX-WG has accomplished its initial assignment, it was never dissolved — as is commonplace with WGs which exceed their initial scope of work.
Presently, the PKIX-WG profiles PKI standards of the International Telecommunication Union, and develops new standards apropos to the use of X.509-based PKIs with the Internet:
- Profiled X.509 version 3 certificates and version 2 Certificate Revocation Lists (CRL) for use with the Internet (RFC 2459)
- The Internet X.509 Public Key Infrastructure Qualified Certificates Profile (RFC 3039)
- The Internet X.509 Public Key Infrastructure Certificate Policy and certification Practices Framework (RFC 2527 - Informational)
- Profiles for the use of Attribute Certificates (RFC )
- LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) v2 for certificate and CRL storage (RFC 2587)

Famous quotes containing the words scope and, scope and/or standards:
“A country survives its legislation. That truth should not comfort the conservative nor depress the radical. For it means that public policy can enlarge its scope and increase its audacity, can try big experiments without trembling too much over the result. This nation could enter upon the most radical experiments and could afford to fail in them.”
—Walter Lippmann (18891974)
“Every person is responsible for all the good within the scope of his abilities, and for no more, and none can tell whose sphere is the largest.”
—Gail Hamilton (18331896)
“The things a man has to have are hope and confidence in himself against odds, and sometimes he needs somebody, his pal or his mother or his wife or God, to give him that confidence. Hes got to have some inner standards worth fighting for or there wont be any way to bring him into conflict. And he must be ready to choose death before dishonor without making too much song and dance about it. Thats all there is to it.”
—Clark Gable (19011960)
