In 2012, The Economist ranked IESE's MBA program as the top two-year MBA in Europe and 9th in the world. In 2009, the same program was ranked as the top two-year MBA program in the world. IESE had also previously ranked as the number one business school in the world based on the study of the Economist Intelligence Unit of 2005 and 2006. The criteria on which The Economist bases its ranking are (a) opening of new career opportunities (35%), (b) personal development/educational experience (35%), (c) increase in salary (20%), and (d) potential to network (10%).

In 2011, The Financial Times ranked IESE's Open Programs as first in the world. It also classified IESE's Executive Education programs as second in Europe and third in the world. IESE also ranked 9th in the world tied with MIT Sloan School of Management based on a 2010 assessment by the Financial Times, and first among non-U.S two-year MBA programs according to Forbes magazine in 2007.

In the 2010 QS Global 200 Business Schools Report the school was ranked 4th in Europe.

IESE is involved in joint-venture executive education, offering open-enrollment programs in partnership with business schools and companies in the U.S. and elsewhere since 1994. The school's in-company programs have attracted such clients as Bertelsmann, British Telecom, Boeing, Fortis, Henkel, Oracle Corporation, Sun Microsystems and Volkswagen in recent months.
