Famous quotes containing the word death:
“He should be as vigorous as a sugar maple, with sap enough to maintain his own verdure,... and not like a vine, which being cut in the spring bears no fruit, but bleeds to death in the endeavor to heal its wounds.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“It was not death he fearedit was the disgrace of death, and the misery of the ignominious preparations. He knew in his heart that heaven could not call it murder that he had done; but he felt equally sure that man would do so.”
—Anthony Trollope (18151882)
“No ones death comes to pass without making some impression, and those close to the deceased inherit part of the liberated soul and become richer in their humaneness.”
—Hermann Broch (18861951)
