Ian Mendes (born December 28, 1976 in Mississauga, Ontario) is a Canadian sports broadcaster for Sportsnet East, a sports channel covering Eastern Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces. Mendes has been in charge of Sportsnet's Ottawa Senators desk since 2004.
After graduating from Carleton University's Journalism Program in 1998, he took a job at the Ottawa Lynx baseball club in public relations, and wound up working on two occasions as their mascot, Lenny the Lynx. After a brief stint with the Ottawa Senators' Public Relations Department, he joined Sportsnet in 2001. In 2006 he made a controversial blog entry on Sportsnet.ca in which he opined that Ottawa may be "the worst sports city in Canada".
Mendes is of Indian descent and has 2 daughters with his wife Sonia.
