Personal Life

Black's father, also named Ian, was a professional footballer who also played for Hearts and city rivals Hibernian. Peter Black, Ian's grandfather, was also footballer; he is the only one in the family to be a keeper.

On 17 May 2011, it was extensively reported that Black, along with his Hearts team mate Robert Ogleby, had been arrested and charged with possession of a class A drug in an Edinburgh night club. On 17 February 2012 the case was dismissed due to failure of witnesses to attend court. It was the seventh time the case has been called.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:

Most personal correspondence of today consists of letters the first half of which are given over to an indexed statement of why the writer hasn’t written before, followed by one paragraph of small talk, with the remainder devoted to reasons why it is imperative that the letter be brought to a close.
    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)

Man will become immeasurably stronger, wiser, and subtler; his body will become more harmonious, his movements more rhythmic, his voice more musical. The forms of life will become dynamically dramatic. The average human type will rise to the heights of an Aristotle, a Goethe, or a Marx. And above these heights, new peaks will rise.
    Leon Trotsky (1879–1940)
