I Walk The Line (1964 Album)

I Walk the Line is the nineteenth album by country singer Johnny Cash, released on Columbia Records in 1964. The album is a ploy by Columbia to record successful songs from Cash's Sun Records period as part of the Columbia catalogue. Half of its tracks were new performances by Cash, two of which, "Bad News" and "Understand Your Man," would go on to become top ten singles on the Country & Western chart.

"I Walk the Line," "Folsom Prison Blues," "Give My Love to Rose," "Hey Porter," "Wreck of the Old '97," and "Big River" are new recordings of songs that had been released as either album tracks or singles on Sun prior to Cash signing with Columbia. "I Still Miss Someone" is a new version of a song that had appeared on Cash's first Columbia LP, The Fabulous Johnny Cash.

This album published in US as LP record in 1964, and was out of print for many years. It was reissued as CD in 2007.It was certified Gold on 7/14/1967 by the R.I.A.A.

Famous quotes containing the words walk and/or line:

The small sleek one wants to stop,
docile to the imploring soul of the trashbasket,
but the young tall curly one
wants to walk on; the glistening sidewalk
    entices him to arcane happenings.
    Denise Levertov (b. 1923)

When I had mapped the pond ... I laid a rule on the map lengthwise, and then breadthwise, and found, to my surprise, that the line of greatest length intersected the line of greatest breadth exactly at the point of greatest depth.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
