"I Saved the World Today" is a song recorded by the British pop music duo Eurythmics. It was written and co-produced by bandmembers Annie Lennox and David A. Stewart and was included on their album Peace in 1999.
The song was released as the first single from the album and returned Eurythmics to the UK singles chart for the first time in nearly a decade, peaking at number eleven. "I Saved the World Today" was not released as a single in the United States.
Early in a second-season episode of The Sopranos, "The Knight in White Satin Armor", the song was briefly played and then meaningfully used as background for the closing scene. It was also used in the diner scene and over the closing credits of Norwegian film Lønsj.

Famous quotes containing the words saved, world and/or today:
“To get a man soundly saved it is not enough to put on him a pair of new breeches, to give him regular work, or even to give him a University education. These things are all outside a man, and if the inside remains unchanged you have wasted your labour. You must in some way or other graft upon the mans nature a new nature, which has in it the element of the Divine.”
—William Booth (18291912)
“The rising power of the United States in world affairs ... requires, not a more compliant press, but a relentless barrage of facts and criticism.... Our job in this age, as I see it, is not to serve as cheerleaders for our side in the present world struggle but to help the largest possible number of people to see the realities of the changing and convulsive world in which American policy must operate.”
—James Reston (b. 1909)
“Hear, O Israel: The LORD is our God, the LORD alone; You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise. Bind them as a sign on your hand, fix them as an emblem on your forehead, and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
—Bible: Hebrew, Deuteronomy 6:4-9.
