Hydrogen Iodide

Hydrogen iodide (HI) is the inorganic compound with the formula HI. Aqueous solutions of HI are known as hydroiodic acid. The gaseous diatomic molecule is colourless. Industrially, HI is mainly used in the production of acetic acid but the acid is frequently used in the laboratory for organic and inorganic synthesis as one of the primary sources of iodine and as a reducing agent.

Famous quotes containing the word hydrogen:

All you of Earth are idiots!... First was your firecracker, a harmless explosive. Then your hand grenade. They begin to kill your own people a few at a time. Then the bomb. Then a larger bomb, many people are killed at one time. Then your scientists stumbled upon the atom bomb—split the atom. Then the hydrogen bomb, where you actually explode the air itself.
