Power and Authority

HPDPS Peace Officers are designated as NYS Peace Officers under New York State Criminal Procedural Law Section 210, subsection 27 as New York City Special Patrolmen, and N.Y. ADC. LAW ยง 14-106: NY Code - Section 14-106 as Special Patrolmen and by Chapter 13 of Title 38 of the Rules of the City of New York. They are commissioned by the NYPD Police Commissioner.

The department also employs security guards and Emergency Medical Technicians.
