Hugo Myatt - Knightmare

Hugo Myatt played the role of Tregard of Dunshelm, the dungeon master and presenter of the Children's ITV game series Knightmare throughout the entire 8 series of its run, between 1987 and 1994.

The first time Hugo met Tim Child, the creator of Knightmare, was while he was working as line producer on Anglia Television's regional news programme About Anglia with his wife, the then-presenter Christine Webber. Tim Child believed that Hugo was ideal for a dungeon master role, so he contacted Hugo and arranged to make a pilot for a show he entitled Dungeon Doom. A few months after the first pilot a second pilot was made, which was renamed Knightmare. The second pilot was successful and a full series was commissioned. Hugo's Treguard became the only character to appear consistently throughout all 112 episodes that were made over Knightmare's entire 8 series run.

It was during his time on Knightmare that Hugo coined the catchphrase "Ooooooh Naaasty!", probably the most memorable catchphrase the show produced. This was a typical response by Treguard whenever a young contestant (known as a dungeoneer) failed in their quest, which normally involved a simulated death. The phrase Treguard originally used in these situations was "Oh dear, what a pity, never mind!", but this was purported to have been changed when Hugo ad-libbed "Ooooooh Naaasty!",and the catchphrase remained part of Knightmare through to the final series.

On January 8, 2010, Digital Spy declared Hugo Myatt's character Treguard as a DS Icon.
