Hugo (franchise)
Hugo the TV troll (tv-trolden Hugo in Danish) is an international media franchise which was created by the Danish company ITE in 1990 for the purpose of interactive television for children. It is based on the titular fictional character of Hugo, a friendly, small Scandinavian folklore troll fighting against the forces of evil, often to save his family.
Since its TV2 premiere in 1990, this popular "live one-player multi platform interactive game show" has aired in more than 40 other countries, spawning dozens of video games for various platforms as well as numerous other merchandise, including theme magazines. As of 2012, however, the franchise has been reduced to low-budget mobile games being published by the Danish company Hugo Games, but with plans to expand and bring it back.
