Hugh Douglas Barclay (born 5 July 1932) was a long-time New York State Senator and a former United States Ambassador to El Salvador. He was born in Pulaski, New York, and earned his bachelor's degree from Yale University and his Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law. Barclay is married to the former Sara J. “Dee Dee” Seiter and they have five children; his sons include Will and David. They also have three daughters Katy,Dorothy, and Susan. Will is now a New York State Assemblyman.
The law library at the Syracuse University College of Law is named in his honor.
