Houston Rockets - Uniforms

Uniforms

The Houston Rockets first uniform dates back to the franchise's early years in San Diego. It was Green and yellow with Rockets on the front of the home jersey and San Diego on a green road jersey. When the team moved to Houston in 1971, they changed green to red, thus making red the primary color. Also, the road jersey incorporated this factor and the jersey now reads Houston following the team's move. In the 1972-73 season, the Rockets updated their uniforms to something more casual to better suit the team. The road jerseys still read Houston but the lettering and numbering were completely white, as for the home uniform, everything was red. It would go through a small change in 1976, lasting all the way to the franchise's 2nd championship win in 1995. That same year, the Rockets would modify their uniforms to a more modern look, eliminating yellow and adding blue, and silver colors to the palette. The uniforms now show the Houston Rockets logo on the front, and the numbers on the upper right side of the jersey. After drafting Yao Ming in 2002, the Rockets would change to their current uniforms in 2003-04.
