Security Issues

The hosts file represents an attack vector for malicious software. The file may be modified, for example, by adware, computer viruses, or trojan horse software to redirect traffic from the intended destination to sites hosting malicious or unwanted content. The widespread computer worm Mydoom.B blocked users from visiting sites about computer security and antivirus software and also affected access from the compromised computer to the Microsoft Windows Update website.

Famous quotes containing the words security and/or issues:

A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
    U.S. Constitution, Second Amendment.

How to attain sufficient clarity of thought to meet the terrifying issues now facing us, before it is too late, is ... important. Nor do the classics per se seem to furnish the kind of education which fits people to cope with a fast-changing civilization.
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)
