Hose's palm civet (Diplogale hosei), also known as Hose's civet, is a species of civet. It is named after zoologist Charles Hose and is a member of the family Viverridae. It is endemic to the montane forests of northern Borneo.
What little is known of the species comes primarily from 17 museum specimens worldwide, the first of which was collected in Sarawak by Hose in 1891. It was not until 1997 that the first living specimen was obtained; this was, however, released after 2 months – there remains no Hose’s civet in captivity anywhere in the world.

Famous quotes containing the words hose and/or palm:
“I must comfort the weaker vessel, as doublet and hose ought
to show itself courageous to petticoat.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“Being blunt with your feelings is very American. In this big country, I can be as brash as New York, as hedonistic as Los Angeles, as sensuous as San Francisco, as brainy as Boston, as proper as Philadelphia, as brawny as Chicago, as warm as Palm Springs, as friendly as my adopted home town of Dallas, Fort Worth, and as peaceful as the inland waterway that rubs up against my former home in Virginia Beach.”
—Martina Navratilova (b. 1956)
