Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion

The Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion (or Anrhydeddus Gymdeithas y Cymmrodorion) was established in 1751 as a Welsh social, cultural, literary and philanthropic society. It lapsed into abeyance between 1787 and 1820, and again between 1843 and 1873. In its second and third incarnations its interests have been predominantly antiquarian. It has always been based in London, although two-thirds of its members live in Wales.
