Hong Kong Certificate of Identity - Acceptance and Visa-free Access

Acceptance and Visa-free Access

Countries that allowed Hong Kong Certificate of Identity holders to visit without visas:

  • South Korea : 30 days
  • Palau : no specific limit of stay (subject to final decision made by immigration officer, on individual merit)
  • Netherlands Antilles / Aruba : 14 days
  • Northern Mariana Islands : 1 month
  • Singapore : 30 days

After the HKSAR was established, a number of countries have ceased to accept CI's at different times. Those not yet eligible for HKSAR passports would recourse to the Document of Identity.

However it is no longer possible to possess a valid CI as a travel document, because all CIs have expired by 30 June 2007.

Famous quotes containing the words acceptance and, acceptance and/or access:

Most women of [the WW II] generation have but one image of good motherhood—the one their mothers embodied. . . . Anything done “for the sake of the children” justified, even ennobled the mother’s role. Motherhood was tantamount to martyrdom during that unique era when children were gods. Those who appeared to put their own needs first were castigated and shunned—the ultimate damnation for a gender trained to be wholly dependent on the acceptance and praise of others.
    Melinda M. Marshall (20th century)

Assumptions that racism is more oppressive to black men than black women, then and now ... based on acceptance of patriarchal notions of masculinity.
    bell hooks (b. c. 1955)

The professional celebrity, male and female, is the crowning result of the star system of a society that makes a fetish of competition. In America, this system is carried to the point where a man who can knock a small white ball into a series of holes in the ground with more efficiency than anyone else thereby gains social access to the President of the United States.
    C. Wright Mills (1916–1962)
