Home of The Blues

Home Of The Blues

"Home of the Blues" is a Johnny Cash song about his unhappy childhood. It was recorded over a year after "I Walk the Line" on July 1, 1957 in Memphis, Tennessee. The song was written by Johnny Cash, and Douglas L. McAlphin and Glenn Douglas Tubb and, like much of Cash's output, was produced by Jack Clement.

"Home of the Blues" was redone by Joaquin Phoenix as a part of the 2005 film, Walk the Line.

Partial ownership of the song is held by Florida businessman John Palumbo.

Famous quotes containing the words home and/or blues:

Men of age object too much, consult too long, adventure too little, repent too soon, and seldom drive business home to the full period, but content themselves with a mediocrity of success.
    Francis Bacon (1561–1626)

Holly Golightly: You know those days when you’ve got the mean reds?
Paul: The mean reds? You mean like the blues?
Holly Golightly: No, the blues are because you’re getting fat or maybe it’s been raining too long. You’re just sad, that’s all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you’re afraid and you don’t know what you’re afraid of.
    George Axelrod (b. 1922)
