Theatre and Music
Every year Holy Names Academy performs theater productions for the students and the community. In the fall, a musical is produced; in the winter, a play. The New Works Festival, in the spring, consists of one-act plays and short films written, directed, acted, and produced by students. Advanced, state-of-the-art lighting equipment and software were installed in the school's auditorium in 2011.
Music ensembles include a concert choir, vocal ensemble, jazz band, chamber ensemble and orchestra, which give at least two concerts per year, travel to competitions, and perform at school events. The school provides students with in-house music recording and production studios, with editing software.

Famous quotes containing the words theatre and/or music:
“The theatre is the best way of showing the gap between what is said and what is seen to be done, and that is why, ragged and gap-toothed as it is, it has still a far healthier potential than some poorer, abandoned arts.”
—David Hare (b. 1947)
“As I define it, rock & roll is dead. The attitude isnt dead, but the music is no longer vital. It doesnt have the same meaning. The attitude, though, is still very much aliveand it still informs other kinds of music.”
—David Byrne (b. 1952)
