HMS Leith (U36) - Post War

Post War

Leith was placed on the disposal list and sold in 1946 into merchant service. She was renamed Byron, and later Friendship in 1948. She was then acquired by the Royal Danish Navy in 1949 and renamed HMDS Galathea. She undertook a two-year deep sea hydrographic expedition, circumnavigating the world in 1950–52, and was sold for scrapping at Odense in 1955.

Famous quotes containing the words post and/or war:

To the old saying that man built the house but woman made of it a “home” might be added the modern supplement that woman accepted cooking as a chore but man has made of it a recreation.
    —Emily Post (1873–1960)

It does not disturb me that those whom I pardon are said to have deserted me so that
they might again bring war against me. I prefer nothing more than that I should be true to
    myself and they to themselves.
Julius Caesar [Gaius Julius Caesar] (100–44 B.C.)
