History of The National Conference League - Summer Era

Summer Era

From 2012 the Conference will play in summer as tier 3 of the new pyramid and the initial season sees two former Rugby League Conference National Division clubs admitted (Dewsbury Celtic and Featherstone Lions) with others expected to join from 2013. For one season only the Rugby League Conference National Division will run as Conference division three with no automatic promotion to division two. but in future all northern clubs will be required to meet full Conference criteria to play in tier 3. The RFL also have ambitions of a Conference South that is yet to be launched which would leave the former National Conference League as Conference North. From 2013 the limit on member clubs will be raised from 42 to 56 and see an increase to four divisions though it is as yet unknown how many clubs will in fact join.

Famous quotes containing the words summer and/or era:

    Cling with life to the maid;
    But when the surprise,
    First vague shadow of surmise
    Flits across her bosom young,
    Of a joy apart from thee,
    Free be she, fancy-free;
    Nor thou detain her vesture’s hem,
    Nor the palest rose she flung
    From her summer diadem.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

    Erasmus was the light of his century; others were its strength: he lighted the way; others knew how to walk on it while he himself remained in the shadow as the source of light always does. But he who points the way into a new era is no less worthy of veneration than he who is the first to enter it; those who work invisibly have also accomplished a feat.
    Stefan Zweig (18811942)
