High Sheriff Of Flintshire
This is a list of High Sheriffs of Flintshire.
The High Sheriff is the oldest secular office under the Crown. Formerly the High Sheriff was the principal law enforcement officer in the county but over the centuries most of the responsibilities associated with the post have been transferred elsewhere or are now defunct, so that its functions are now largely ceremonial. The High Sheriff changes every March. The shrievalty of Flintshire, together with that of Denbighshireshire, was abolished in 1974 when the county and shrievalty of Clwyd was created.

Famous quotes containing the words high and/or sheriff:
“A ward, and still in bonds, one day
I stole abroad;
It was high spring, and all the way
Primrosed and hung with shade;
Yet was it frost within,
And surly winds
Blasted my infant buds, and sin
Like clouds eclipsed my mind.”
—Henry Vaughan (16221695)
“The mans an M.D., like you. Hes entitled to his opinion. Or do you want me to charge him with confusing a country doctor?”
—Robert M. Fresco. Jack Arnold. Sheriff Jack Andrews (Nestor Paiva)
