High King Mountain Ski Area - Description

Description

High King Mountain (HKM) ski area consists of the five resorts of Maria Alm, Hintermoos, Hinterthal, Dienten am Hochkönig, and Mühlbach am Hochkönig. The ski area spans eight mountains and covers a huge area.

Due to its special microclimate, High King Mountain has one of the best snowfall records in Austria and has a long ski season, usually from late November to the middle of April.

There are 36 ski lifts with a mixture of modern and old and over 150 km (94 mi.) of prepared ski piste. The majority of the ski pistes suit intermediate cruising, and for beginners there are individual nursery slopes in each resort. For expert skiers, HKM has several off-piste back bowls and abundant tree skiing with one of the highest tree lines in Europe.

Little known by the British ski market, no major tour operators visit HKM, resulting in minimal queues for the lifts or the dozens of mountain restaurants.

Famous quotes containing the word description:

Everything to which we concede existence is a posit from the standpoint of a description of the theory-building process, and simultaneously real from the standpoint of the theory that is being built. Nor let us look down on the standpoint of the theory as make-believe; for we can never do better than occupy the standpoint of some theory or other, the best we can muster at the time.
Willard Van Orman Quine (b. 1908)

It is possible—indeed possible even according to the old conception of logic—to give in advance a description of all ‘true’ logical propositions. Hence there can never be surprises in logic.
    Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889–1951)

To give an accurate description of what has never occurred is not merely the proper occupation of the historian, but the inalienable privilege of any man of parts and culture.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)
