High-fructose Corn Syrup - Public Relations

Public Relations

There are various public relations issues with high-fructose corn syrup, including its labeling as "natural", its advertising, companies that have moved back to sugar, and a proposed name change to 'corn sugar'. In 2010 the Corn Refiners Association applied to allow HFCS to be renamed 'corn sugar', but was rejected by the US Food and Drug Administration in 2012.

Famous quotes containing the words public and/or relations:

I fear the popular notion of success stands in direct opposition in all points to the real and wholesome success. One adores public opinion, the other, private opinion; one, fame, the other, desert; one, feats, the other, humility; one, lucre, the other, love; one, monopoly, and the other, hospitality of mind.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Major [William] McKinley visited me. He is on a stumping tour.... I criticized the bloody-shirt course of the canvass. It seems to me to be bad “politics,” and of no use.... It is a stale issue. An increasing number of people are interested in good relations with the South.... Two ways are open to succeed in the South: 1. A division of the white voters. 2. Education of the ignorant. Bloody-shirt utterances prevent division.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
