Sara D. Roosevelt Park
In 2006, an effort was announced to renovate Chinatown's Sara Delano Roosevelt Park (SDR). Local residents, community groups, and schools formed the SDR Coalition to take an active role in the reconstruction efforts. HSC held multiple "Visioning Days" and other activities to promote the community’s involvement in the new design for the park. “We are looking for ways to reach out to the predominately Chinese speaking park users, a group that is typically not involved in civic processes,” explained Anne Frederick, HSC's Executive Director. “These games are designed to be nonverbal, and fun." The project is still being developed by the SDR Coalition.

Famous quotes containing the words roosevelt and/or park:
“In this nation I see tens of millions of its citizens, a substantial part of its whole population, who at this very moment are denied the greater part of what the very lowest standards of today call the necessities of life. I see one third of a nation ill-housed, ill-clad, ill-nourished. The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much, it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”
—Franklin D. Roosevelt (18821945)
“Linnæus, setting out for Lapland, surveys his comb and spare shirt, leathern breeches and gauze cap to keep off gnats, with as much complacency as Bonaparte a park of artillery for the Russian campaign. The quiet bravery of the man is admirable.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
