Hertfordshire

Hertfordshire (/ˈhɑːtfədʃɪə/, i/ˈhɑrtfərdʃɪər/ or /ˈhɑrfərdʃər/; abbreviated Herts) is a ceremonial and non-metropolitan county in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. For statistical purposes it is part of the region of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire (code UKH2) at the level of NUTS 2. Hertfordshire is one of the home counties and is bordered by the non-metropolitan counties of Bedfordshire to the north, Cambridgeshire to the northeast, Essex to the east, Buckinghamshire to the west. Greater London lies to the south. The county town is Hertford.
