Herefordshire County Cricket Club

Herefordshire County Cricket Club is one of the county clubs which make up the Minor Counties in the English domestic cricket structure, representing the historic county of Herefordshire and playing in the Minor Counties Championship and the MCCA Knockout Trophy.

The club plays matches around the county at Brockhampton CC, Colwall CC, and Eastnor CC. Matches were also played at Kington CC, Luctonians CC in Kingsland near Leominster, and Dales CC in Leominster in the past.

The Minor Counties play three-day matches at a level below that of the first-class game. At present, Herefordshire competes in the Western Division of the Minor Counties Championship.

Famous quotes containing the words county, cricket and/or club:

    I could draw Bloom County with my nose and pay my cleaning lady to write it, and I’d bet I wouldn’t lose 10% of my papers over the next twenty years. Such is the nature of comic-strips. Once established, their half-life is usually more than nuclear waste.
    Berkeley Breathed (b. 1957)

    All cries are thin and terse;
    The field has droned the summer’s final mass;
    A cricket like a dwindled hearse
    Crawls from the dry grass.
    Richard Wilbur (b. 1921)

    I spoke at a woman’s club in Philadelphia yesterday and a young lady said to me afterwards, “Well, that sounds very nice, but don’t you think it is better to be the power behind the throne?” I answered that I had not had much experience with thrones, but a woman who has been on a throne, and who is now behind it, seems to prefer to be on the throne.
    Anna Howard Shaw (1847–1919)
