Henry Sibley High School

Henry Sibley High School was founded in 1954. The current school was built in 1971 to serve students in grades 10-12. Today, it serves students in grades 9-12 and houses the district’s administrative offices. It is currently remodeling the main offices, expanding the cafeteria, and remodeling science spaces, thanks to passage of a facilities and technology referendum in 2004. It serves as the public high school for the communities of Mendota Heights, Mendota, Sunfish Lake, Lilydale, West St. Paul and parts of Inver Grove Heights and Eagan. It is a member of the Classic Suburban Conference. In 2011 Sibley was ranked as one of the top high schools not just in Minnesota, but in the entire country by the Washington Post.

If a man cannot do brain work without stimulants of any kind, he had better turn to hand work—it is an indication on Nature’s part that she did not mean him to be a head worker.
    —Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–95)

I’ll walk, but not in old heroic traces,
And not in paths of high morality,
And not among the half-distinguished faces,
The clouded forms of long-past history.
    Emily Brontë (1818–1848)

Cinema, radio, television, magazines are a school of inattention: people look without seeing, listen in without hearing.
    Robert Bresson (b. 1907)
