International Career

Lansbury has featured for England at several youth levels. As a former captain of the U-16 team and he was part of the U-17 team which reached the final of the 2007 UEFA U-17 European Championship. He missed the match due to concussion which he received in the semi-final. Lansbury has also captained England at U-19 level and was part of the team which lost in the final of the 2009 UEFA U-19 European Championship against Ukraine, scoring three goals in the tournament. He was called up to the U21 team for the first time for their qualifying match against Portugal in November 2009. On 16 November 2010, in an England Under-21 friendly match against Portugal, Lansbury replaced Jason Steele in goal when he was sent off. Lansbury let in the resulting penalty by Cenk Tosun but kept Germany at bay for the rest of the match. Lansbury was called up to the England U-21 team for the 2011 UEFA Under-21 Championships and featured in all three group stage matches as a substitute. On 1 September 2011 he started for England in an 2013 UEFA Under-21 Championships qualifier against Azerbaijan. In an impressive display he scored twice, assisted two further goals and was named man of the match as England won 6-0. On 29 February 2012, he scored two goals as England U21 secured a play-off spot for Euro 2013 with a 4-0 victory at The Riverside over Belgium U21.
