When he was young, he joined the Jaya Raya Jakarta badminton club. Setiawan's parents are named Ferry Yoegianto (father) and Kartika Christyaningrum (mother). His hobby is listening music. Normally people called him Hendra or Junkies. His older sister Sylvia Anggraeny is married to the former Indonesian star badminton player Hendrawan.
