Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University is Uttarakhand's largest university, in Garhwal, is named after him. H.N. Bahuguna's two sons, Vijay Bahuguna & Sekhar Bahuguna and daughter, Rita Bahuguna Joshi, are in politics too. In, fact his son Vijay Bahuguna is the present Chief Minister of Uttrakhand. His son was also a former judge of Allahabad and Bombay High Court.
Little is known about his first marriage. His first wife always lived in his native village Bughani as a simple village woman while his 2nd wife lived with him in Allahabad and is mother of his 3 children.
