- Bleak Expectations BBC Radio 4 series spoofs Dante's Inferno in the 2nd episode of the fourth series. The underworld is a place for all souls before they are assigned to their respective heavens or hells.
- The radio show Coast to Coast AM has circulated a sound recording which is said to feature the screaming of people suffering in hell, supposedly recorded by Russian engineers drilling into the ground in Siberia, although it is a hoax known as the Well to Hell hoax.
