Helen Bee - Academic

Academic

After two years as an Assistant Professor at Clark University, in Worcester, MA, Dr. Bee moved to the University of Washington, where she taught for 7 years, receiving tenure during that time. After leaving the university, she turned to writing books full time. The best known of her books is "The Developing Child", now in its 12th edition. Her own favorite of the several books, however, is "The Journey of Adulthood", which included, for the first time in any such text, a chapter on spiritual development.

Famous quotes containing the word academic:

I was so grateful to be independent of the academic establishment. I thought, how awful it would be to have my future hinge on such people and such decisions.
    Jane Jacobs (b. 1916)

The academic expectations for a child just beginning school are minimal. You want your child to come to preschool feeling happy, reasonably secure, and eager to explore and learn.
    Bettye M. Caldwell (20th century)

Being in a family is like being in a play. Each birth order position is like a different part in a play, with distinct and separate characteristics for each part. Therefore, if one sibling has already filled a part, such as the good child, other siblings may feel they have to find other parts to play, such as rebellious child, academic child, athletic child, social child, and so on.
    Jane Nelson (20th century)
