Marriage and Issue
In Güstrow on 29 March 1692 Heinrich married Elisabeth of Mecklenburg-Güstrow, sister of Hedwig, the wife of Heinrich's brother August, Duke of Saxe-Merseburg-Zörbig. They had three children:
- Maurice (b. Spremberg, 29 October 1694 - d. Spremberg, 11 April 1695).
- Christiana Fredericka (b. Spremberg, 17 May 1697 - d. Spremberg, 21 August 1722).
- Gustava Magdalena (b. Spremberg, 2 October 1699 - d. Spremberg, 3 October 1699).
Without surviving male issue, the line of Saxe-Merseburg became extinct upon his death.

Famous quotes containing the words marriage and/or issue:
“The economic dependence of woman and her apparently indestructible illusion that marriage will release her from loneliness and work and worry are potent factors in immunizing her from common sense in dealing with men at work.”
—Mary Barnett Gilson (1877?)
“For Banquos issue have I filed my mind;
For them the gracious Duncan have I murdered;
Put rancors in the vessel of my peace
Only for them; and mine eternal jewel
Given to the common enemy of man,
To make them kings, the seeds of Banquo kings!”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
