Hebbar Iyengars are descendants of Iyengar Brahmin immigrants from Tamil Nadu, who migrated into Karnataka during Ramanuja's visit to the Mysore kingdom. Their ancestors are said to be immigrants from Kanchipuram, Kumbakonam and Srirangam.
