Heartless Crew

Heartless Crew were an English Garage sound system from London, that consisted of three members MC's Bushkin, Mighty Moe and DJ Fonti. Mighty Moe started out as a hip-hop DJ. His parents are from the Middle-East. Bushkin and Fonti have West Indian backgrounds.

It was established in 1992 when the trio met at Holloway Boys School. Their inspiration was taken from Buju Banton, R. Kelly, Shabba, MCDet and Brockie. They started off playing house parties and small clubs, moving through to a residency at Chimes night club in Hackney in 1996.

By 1998, they had joined the pirate radio station, Mission 90.6 FM, pioneering a mix of R&B, hip-hop, jungle and dancehall derived sounds, taking its cues straight from the Jamaican sound system tradition, while adding fresh and modern elements from UK garage. In 2002 they signed to BBC 1Xtra, where they presented their Sunday evening programme. They also released a debut compilation album, Heartless Crew presents Crisp Biscuit Vol 1, closely followed by their debut single, "The Heartless Theme aka 'The Superglue Riddim'". The single reached number 21 in the UK Singles Chart in May 2002. The music video for "The Heartless Theme aka 'The Superglue Riddim'" was directed by Andy Hylton. They left 1Xtra in 2006.

It was announced on 1 January 2011 that the Heartless Crew have now split up, and will pursue solo careers whilst still remaining friends. Mc Buskin and DJ Fonti present the FAB show together on Rinse fm on Friday evening's between 7-9pm.

Famous quotes containing the words heartless and/or crew:

Some let me make you of the heartless words.
The heart is drained that, spelling in the scurry
Of chemic blood, warned of the coming fury.
By the sea’s side hear the dark-vowelled birds.
    Dylan Thomas (1914–1953)

    Nor aught availed him now
To have built in heav’n high tow’rs; nor did he scape
By all his engines, but was headlong sent
With his industrious crew to build in hell.
    John Milton (1608–1674)
