Muldowney would rather have had Jamie Lee Curtis play her; she called Bedelia "a snot", and stated, "When she was promoting the movie on TV shows, she would tell interviewers she didn't even like racing. Famous quotes containing the words reception and/or muldowney:

To aim to convert a man by miracles is a profanation of the soul. A true conversion, a true Christ, is now, as always, to be made by the reception of beautiful sentiments.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Drag racing is a sport of egos, and it’s all male egos.
—Shirley “Cha Cha” Muldowney (b. 1940)
