According to National Family Health Survey-3, the private medical sector remains the primary source of health care for the majority of households in both urban areas (70 percent) and rural areas (63 percent) of India. Reliance on public and private health care sector vary significantly between states. Other major reasons are distance of the public sector facility, long waiting time, and inconvenient hours of operation.

Famous quotes containing the words public and/or private:

... until both employers’ and workers’ groups assume responsibility for chastising their own recalcitrant children, they can vainly bay the moon about “ignorant” and “unfair” public criticism. Moreover, their failure to impose voluntarily upon their own groups codes of decency and honor will result in more and more necessity for government control.
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)

    Eddie: Who are you soldier?
Philip Marlowe: Marlowe’s my name. I’m a private detective.
    William Faulkner (1897–1962)
