Hat Mountain is a mountain located in the Warner Mountains south of Eagle Peak in California. The peak, which rises to an elevation of 8,737 feet (2,663 m), is the highest point in Lassen County. Lost Lake is located to the northwest of the summit. Most of the precipitation that falls on Hat Mountain is snow due to the high elevation.
Famous quotes containing the words hat and/or mountain:
“Walk in this faithless grass with studious tread,
Lest mice, weasels, germane beasts, too soon
The tall hat and eyes, the fierce feet, for dead
Descry, and fix you prone in their revelling moon.”
—Allen Tate (18991979)
“The mountain may be approached more easily and directly on horseback and on foot from the northeast side, by the Aroostook road, and the Wassataquoik River; but in that case you see much less of the wilderness, none of the glorious river and lake scenery, and have no experience of the batteau and the boatmans life.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
