Hash (film) - Proposed Prequel

Proposed Prequel

Final editing was being completed in the summer of 2005. In the summer of that year Smith was on a train on the Scarborough to Hull route where a delay on the track caused his train to be stationary for almost three hours. During this unexpected wait Smith began writing plot synopsis for a prequel to the Hash McBrown saga, exploring the origins of Black Pudding. The plot called for a political uprising in the fictional setting of Winnistock (setting for Hash) where a young Lucius Pudding manages to stop a trusted and beloved Mayor's diabolical plan to seize control of the army and create a dictatorship that survives on the anarchy around. The plot included characters named in the fashion typical of the Hash McBrown saga, including an army leader called Major Problem. The story ended on the roof of a high rise building where an explosion kills the Mayor thus ending the uprising, but scarring Pudding and thus sending him on his way into madness. The only other character from Hash planned in the prequel was Alfonso, the Jive-Talking Monkey, who a young Lucius Pudding would find as a baby.

Ultimately the prequel was never seriously considered, although there remains the possibility that it may appear in written form online one day.

Famous quotes containing the word proposed:

The structure was designed by an old sea captain who believed that the world would end in a flood. He built a home in the traditional shape of the Ark, inverted, with the roof forming the hull of the proposed vessel. The builder expected that the deluge would cause the house to topple and then reverse itself, floating away on its roof until it should land on some new Ararat.
