Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury - As Chairman of Anti-Corruption Commission

As Chairman of Anti-Corruption Commission

Hasan Masshud has been appointed the chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission on February 22, 2007. On his first day at office, he stated that this time, there will be no resignation, only a sustained battle against corruption. He has promised to prosecute corruption in a rigorous and sustained manner. It seemed as if DUDOK (Anti-Corruption Commission) has been greatly invigorated and energized with the appointment of Hasan Mashhud. Freed from the grossly incompetent leadership of the 82-year old retired Justice Sultan Hossain Khan, DUDOK looks finally set and on its way to becoming an effective and independent institution to eradicate corruption. Mr. Hasan Masshud had to resign on 2 April 2009. Chairman of anti-corruption commission, he did many wrongdoings at the direction of once his subordinate Moeen. Without his knowledge Moeen group filed case at night and late night arrested Khaleda Zia and Sheikh Hasina, about which he could not argue even as he showed audacity with the head of the state regarding army deployment under civil administration constitutionally. Awami League MP's, led by Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, were vocal against him in the parliament and they wanted to summon him. Ironically he had to resign under Awami League's pressure on 2 April 2009. BNP MPs led by Moudud Ahmed supported them. He has been winding up from Bangladesh to live for ever in USA. Although Hasan Mashhud opposed president's constitutional right unknowingly but when army was doing everything under Moeen's leadership involving army with rampant corruption then he was undone.

Children cannot eat rhetoric and they cannot be sheltered by commissions. I don’t want to see another commission that studies the needs of kids. We need to help them.
