Vintage Base Ball Team

The Hartford Senators were re-established in 2001 for the purpose of perpetuating, promoting, and playing the game of Baseball as it was when it first existed. The Vintage Base Ball Federation was founded by World Series pitcher Jim Bouton and funded by Mass Mutual Financial Group.

On August 19, 2007 at Bullens Field in Westfield, MA the Hartford Senators won the 2007 World Series of Vintage Base Ball. Hartford defeated Division Champions from California, Michigan, Rhode Island and Massachusetts to win the Pennant. The Senators were led by players Chris "Grit" Moran, Jeff "Bull" Durham, Mike "Broadway" Hickey and Robert "Streak" Silverberg. The Senators play home games at Colt Park in Hartford, Connecticut.

Famous quotes containing the words base, ball and/or team:

Who is here so base that would be a bondman? If any, speak, for him have I offended. Who is here so rude that would not be a Roman? If any, speak, for him have I offended. Who is here so vile that will not love his country? If any, speak, for him have I offended.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

Innings and afternoons. Fly lost in sunset.
Throwing arm gone bad. There’s your old ball game.
Cool reek of the field. Reek of companions.
    Robert Fitzgerald (1910–1985)

Relying on any one disciplinary approach—time-out, negotiation, tough love, the star system—puts the parenting team at risk. Why? Because children adapt to any method very quickly; today’s effective technique becomes tomorrow’s worn dance.
    Ron Taffel (20th century)
