Specialist College
The specialist school programme helps schools, in partnership with private sector sponsors, and supported by additional government funding, to establish distinctive identities through their chosen specialisations and achieve their targets to raise standards.
Specialist schools have a focus on those subjects relating to their chosen specialisations but must also meet the national curriculum requirements and deliver a broad and balanced education to all students.
Hartford High School is one of the minorities of schools that have been awarded dual specialisms: Languages and Sports.

Famous quotes containing the words specialist and/or college:
“He was no specialist except in the relation of things.... He took most of his materials at second hand.... But no matter who mined the gold, the image and superscription are his.”
—Woodrow Wilson (18561924)
“We talked about and that has always been a puzzle to me
why American men think that success is everything
when they know that eighty percent of them are not
going to succeed more than to just keep going and why
if they are not why do they not keep on being
interested in the things that interested them when
they were college men and why American men different
from English men do not get more interesting as they
get older.”
—Gertrude Stein (18741946)
